SB’s Idea Machine: What I Want to See In a New Mario

July 17, 2008 by SparklingBlue DS, Features, Wii No Comments

Ah, Mario. The wonder plumber has brought me millions of fond memories over the years, and every game he’s in is bound to sell well, never mind what the press says. With Miyamoto hinting at a Super Mario Galaxy sequel and a DS Mario in the works, I can’t help but wonder what Mario’s legendary creator has up his sleeve for the Bros.

That said, here are a few predictions for what I’d want to see in either of these two titles.

I Believe I Can Fly…

Let’s face it, I’m sure a lot of people enjoyed flying with the Wing Cap in Mario 64, and that further evolved into your flying around space in Galaxy (and most likely Galaxy 2)…so why not evolve that into a game that uses the WiiMotiion Plus to make Mario fly around a vast world? Not only that, but the classic mushroom, flower, and star could be adapted for the air too, such as a Fire Flower making fire bombs for the ground below and missiles for a kind of “dogfighting”

Touched By the Bros.

While allowing Luigi some playtime in Galaxy was a great first step, why not allow a sort of 2 player mode over Wi-Fi, so two people can compete against each other?

You’ve Got a Friend (or Enemy) In Me…

I’m sure a lot of you enjoyed Mario and Bowser teaming up in Super Mario RPG, and the Bowser World bonus stages in Paper Mario 2…so why not have Mario and Bowser team up again? Or even give the Koopa King his own game? And Luigi’s tale in Paper Mario 2 about Princess Eclair and the Waffle Kingdom? Make that a game, and give Luigi true top billing.

But, only time will tell what these games will be…

Until then, dream on, and happy gaming,
SparklingBlue

Microtastic Reviews: Zombie Edition

Plants vs Zombies
Developer: Popcap Games

There is something delightful about the charming simplicity of Popcap’s titles, and Plants vs Zombies continues this legacy. Much like Peggle and any of its past franchises, Plants vs Zombies takes a single round to comprehend all of its basic rules. Though it never becomes difficult [...]

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath & Beyond Review

The original Matt Hazard had the potential to be a great game, good voice work with the likes of Neil Patrick Harris and Will Arnett. A brilliant backstory and marketing campaign which broke the fourth wall entirely, and the story while thin was entertaining and amusing. The sole problem came in the gameplay department which [...]

SB Plays The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

When the newest entry in the beloved Zelda series was announced earlier this year, people were both excited and skeptical. How well would a train in the Zeldaverse go over with fans? Would the gameplay be a replay of Phantom Hourglass, with its infamously numerous trips through the Temple of the Ocean King?
Now that the [...]
