New FFXIII Character Revealed!

The latest issue of V-Jump reveals a new playable character in the Final Fantasy XIII Universe. Everyone have a warm welcome for Sazh Kalzroy. All the facts revealed about him was that he likes the colour green, wields two pistols and loves Chocobo’s. (he’s probably has a baby one as a pet/companion)

You got to give it to Tetsuya Nomura for not creating a spiky haired emo pretty boy, a trait you can relate to most of his characters. He actually looks original, even if he hits all the old black stereotypes in terms of style.

It’s actually good to see a new black main character in a Square-Enix game, the last one I actually remember was Mr T Barret. Lets hope they don’t add a ghetto voice actor, but judging by his style it’s looking like he will be a smooth talking trickster, so maybe not all stereotypes will be hit. (Are the Japanese finally learning?)

Japanese Magazine Famitsu (which RPGfan.com translated) states that the game will be released in English before 2010. stating:

Final Fantasy XIII is set to hit retail store shelves on both sides of the Pacific sometime later this year.

While this might not mean being released at the same time, but we should expect a Japanese and English version by the end of the year, and no word on an EU release. But I warn you this hasn’t been 100% confirmed and could have be mis-translated or totally wrong to begin with so don’t get your hopes up until we hear it from the horse’s mouth.
