Rumor: Silent Hill Remake?

logo_sh

According to VG247, Silent Hill may be receiving a remake. The 1999 classic that brought a whole new level of horror to gaming with psychological themes and pure insanity may return to haunt us once again.

According to the rumor, Climax – the developers who brought us Silent Hill Origins – are working on the remake, with the PSP and the Wii being the systems selected to house the new version of Silent Hill. Whether the rumor is true or not is of course uncertain as neither Climax nor Konami had confirmed the truthfulness of the rumor as of yet. Konami refused to talk, while Climax was unavailable for commenting. They hadn’t come forth to say it was just a stupid rumor, so that can give fans hope, I suppose. Of course even if they are working on it, they will probably deny it until the time is right anyway.

Regardless, if the rumor turns out to be true, then PSP and Wii owners, as well as Silent Hill fans will have something to look forward to. Silent Hill was one of the greatest psychological/survival horror games of it’s time and is still among the best. Not only that, but it would finally give the PSP and especially the Wii a new, proper survival horror game.

We’ll be sure to tell you if we find out more of this matter, so stay tuned. As for me, I’m going to go check on my dust collec…I mean my Wii.
