World in Conflict for Consoles Canned

Ubisoft has confirmed that a console version for the PC game World in Conflict has been cancelled.

The game was released back in September 2007 for the PC and a console counterpart was scheduled for release for Fall 2008, obviously this didn’t happen.

After parent company Vivendi merged with Activision, however, many of the company’s works were ultimately shelved, though World in Conflict was snapped up by Ubisoft after the firm purchased Massive.

Despite this, Ubisoft apparently isn’t keen on following up on Sierra’s original plans, telling IGN: “World of Conflict: Soviet Assault will be released for the PC later this month. A console version of World in Conflict is not planned for release at this time.”

By the sound of the quote, this isn’t 100% out of the picture, someday down the line we might see a watered down version for the consoles, but is obviously not on the top of Ubisofts list.
