NewsVine – 27th January 2010

You know those Star Wars shoes that seem to be getting themselves some attention? Well one of my mates has bought himself a pair of the Stormtrooper inspired one’s. Not something I would personally wear, too much shiny plastic that will tear within a week, yuck. Anyway it’s time for the day today in the world of gaming.

Apple reveal the iPad

The iPad is basically a mixture of a smartphone and a laptop “iTunes is built in, as is a QWERTY touch keyboard. You can watch TV on it. A full browser is included. Full multitouch with gestures. Watch HD YouTube videos. Books are handled by a new app called iBooks.” All iPhone games work and will be scaled up which is nice. Pretty much making this an e-book reader that does so much more than letting you read books, much like how most people spend 80% of the time not using the phone part of the iPhone but instead pretend to chug a pint of lager.

Harmonix Partnering with Other Devs

Harmonix are working with developers Demiurge Studios, MK12 and more for the production of the game no-one wanted Rock Band: Green Day. This means a bulk of the game won’t be developed by Harmonix itself, meaning they have more time to work on other projects (Hopefully Rock Band 3) which can only be a good thing. It can bring up the point of quality of RB: Green Day. But lets be honest, do you actually give a fuck about this title? I buy Rock Band and Guitar Hero titles left right and centre but this title much like Beatles Rock Band I won’t be touching.

Dragon Age: Origins DLC to Return

On the 13th the ‘Return to Ostagar’ DLC appeared on Xbox Live only to disappear later on. Well we can expect the DLC to reappear and hopefully for good next week. Bioware co-found Ray Muzyka said “I don’t know if it was a communication error with our distribution partners or what happened there. If they were released in order it would have been fine, but it created a bug which prevented progression, and obviously that wasn’t acceptable, so we pulled it down.” This seems to be a common problem for open-world RPG’s, Fallout had the same problem on numerous occasions.

Rumour: Final Fantasy XIII DLC

A rumour is around saying that producer Yoshinori Kitase has said “We initially had doubts to add extra content to the western version but then it would have taken the international version more months of delay. We did prepare DLC but it will arrive a little later in the west” So DLC is planned but like everything else in the Final Fantasy XIII development process, it’s taking its time.

Errr…….It’s been a really slow news day, at this moment in time these 4 are the only things worth talking about. So instead of a 5th article here is the latest episode of P.A.D. Why? Because it’s hilarious.
