Final Fantasy XIII-2 Has Multiple Endings

In a Game Informer interview, Final Fantasy XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama revealed that the game will include multiple endings. XIII-2 sees the shift from the love story between Snow and Serah to one of Serah’s search for her lost sister Lightning. However, the love story will not be completely going away and the player will have a direct impact on the game’s conclusion. Toriyama states that this will be the series first for the Final Fantasy video games.

As for side missions in FFXIII-2, the developers at Square Enix were inspired by Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption. The gameplay design to trigger a side-mission does not necessarily have to be placed at a set location but missions can happen anywhere in the world. Of course, not to that extent of open-world but close. They also wanted chocobos to feel like riding horses in RDR which is interesting to note.
