QuakeCon ’12: Rise of the Triad Returns

QuakeCon has a number of surprises and the notable one today is the “rebirth” of Rise of the Triad, a classic Doom-era FPS that was pretty insane.

Featuring five playable characters and using Unreal Engine 3 as the framework, Rise of the Triad is the modern-day revival of a really absurd game. With a weapon arsenal like the Drunk Missile and the Excalibat, there’s nothing that this game takes seriously. Game modes like the fan-favorite Dog mode return along with plenty of secrets, collectibles, and hidden areas to explore in Rise of the Triad.

It’s set for release on Steam later this year so expect Steamwork integration (where you can build, upload, and share created levels) and over 100 achievements.
