New GTX Architecture from NVIDIA

NVIDIA has announced their latest line in GTX GPUs. Say hello to the Maxwell family of Geforce GTX.

The GTX 750 Ti marks the first GPU with the brand new Maxwell architecture, and makes transforming a standard PC into something more gaming focussed without spending a significant amount. The prices will fluctuate depending on which NVIDIA manefacturing partner you buy from (EVGA, Asus, Gigabyte, etc..) but the base price for 750 Ti is aroun $160. An easy spend to be able to play PC games at 1080p with medium settings.

We look forward to getting hands on with the new GPUs to let you know how things run on our machines testing with different titles and services.

Here are some of the technical highlights directly from NVIDIA:

  • Extreme Power Efficiency: 2X the performance/watt of Kepler despite using the same 28-nm process
  • Fastest GPU that doesn’t require a power connector: This makes it perfect for use in basic PCs that often have 300W PSUs and no power connector.
  • 60W TDP: Consumes considerably less power than any other GPU in this class
  • Tiny 5.7” board: Short enough to fit inside the smallest SFF PCs
  • 2X Performance Upgrade over GTX 550 Ti: Great upgrade over the still highly popular GeForce GTX 550 Ti
  • Tremendous OC’er: Easily breaks past 1250MHz when OC’ed. Try it!
  • Better ShadowPlay: Thanks to improved NVENC encoder
  • Stream games to your SHIELD: Play your PC games throughout your home, or stream them to your TV with SHIELD
  • GameWorks: Experience PhysX in CoD: Ghosts, or crank up the visuals with TXAA
