Using Technology To Start A Healthy Lifestyle

Summer is right around the corner, and we decided that it will mark the perfect time to start a series of features giving you information and first hand opinions on different technology based tools that will make exercise and forming healthy lifestyle habits an entertaining experience.

Wearables add video game like stats that you can track. We have reached out to companies that focus on fitness trackers and will be providing in depth reviews to let you know which ones will help motivate you to get healthy. The goal is to give you comprehensive information as well as hands on impressions on a variety of differently priced gadgets that will help encourage and motivate a more active lifestyle without having to sacrifice time with the technology you love. We will start with evaluations of the Misfit Shine, Spree Sports Fitness Monitor and the Basis Band and will be adding more to the list as summer goes on. All of these gadgets will be put through the same tests, looking at the device itself as well as the application on various platforms.

We also will be exploring how video games can be used as exercise devices. Peripherals like the Wii Fit Balance Board and the Kinect offer a deep collection of software that is designed to facilitate exercise. Most of the games might be complete garbage, but we will show you the ones get you moving and offer up some ideas that you can work into your own exercise routines. I don’t exercise often because I don’t find exercising to be very fun. My goal with these features is to discover an entertaining method to use various gaming hardware to establish different workout routines that are both healthy and fun.

Also time and equipment permitting we will be starting a TV style daily fitness video series and live stream to give you direct visually represented exercise plans that you can perform alongside. This one might be a little difficult to accomplish, but look for a full workout regiment once I have determined a good schedule of weekly morning routines.

I will personally be leading the charge. Going from not exercising at all, throwing myself down all the possible game and technology related exercise avenues that I can get my hands on. Doing the research to find the different methods that have the hooks to get ME interested in exercise. Finding the gadgets that provide the most comprehensive stat tracking and motivational features. Playing various exercise games, dancing like a fool in front of my TV and downloading interesting mobile apps that help better the experience. The content will roll out on a weekly schedule throughout the summer months. If we are still discovering new and entertaining methods for exercise and being able to discuss the latest wearable fitness gadgets then things will continue throughout the year.
