The Legend of Zelda Continues, But We STILL Don’t Know How It Goes!

Now that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is out, I feel it’s time to re-examine the Zelda timeline now that we know where it fits in the story.

SparklingBlue Plays Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Mario and Sonic have become quite the Olympians as they’ve traveled across the world to compete in the last few Olympics. They kicked off their athletic adventures in Beijing in 2008, then traveled to Vancouver for last year’s Winter Olympics. Now, the dynamic duo has arrived in London for their latest offering on the Wii and 3DS–do gaming-dom’s most iconic characters put on a jolly good show in their latest incarnation as Olympic athletes?

Classic Games That Never Were #1: Sword of Eternity

Our first Classic Game That Never Was is Sword of Eternity, (or Eien no Sword in Japan) a traditional RPG on the Super NES that tried to combine the turn based combat of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest with the exploration Zelda was known for. The result was a challenging yet charming RPG with memorable characters and huge dungeons filled with traps and treasure. (more…)

Super Mario Kart Comes to Life!

Ever wanted to see a real-life kart from Nintendo’s hit Mario Kart™ series outside of the Mushroom Kingdom? Nintendo has teamed up with West Coast Customs to create life-size models of two karts – one for Mario™ and one for Luigi™ – from the upcoming Mario Kart 7 video game for the portable Nintendo 3DS™ system. These unique electric vehicles were unveiled today at the LA Auto Show, where they will be on display Nov. 18-27 in the lobby of the West Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center. Visitors attending the show will be able to take photos of the karts, sample the Mario Kart 7 game before its Dec. 4 launch and participate in multiplayer game play. (more…)

Countdown to a Legend: Lanayru Desert and New Items Revealed

Nintendo’s newest press release unveils another location for Link’s newest adventure:

Lanayru Desert and the Lanayru Mining Facility: In this vast area, surrounded in all directions by sand, Link must search for the Lanayru Mining Facility. As strange a place as this is, Link will encounter characters both new and familiar, such as Gorons. Inside the Lanayru Mining Facility, Link will follow the path of mine carts through this expansive area, experiencing new puzzles and challenges. He must also face the dungeon boss Moldera, a fearsome giant scorpion. (more…)

Countdown to a Legend: New Information on Eldin Volcano in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

As the release day to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword draws ever closer, Nintendo’s newest press release reveals these new tidbits of information on Eldin Volcano:

•Return to the Eldin Volcano and the Fire Sanctuary: Link travels back to this volcanic area to journey into the Fire Sanctuary, a dungeon that sits on top of the volcano’s summit.
•New Items: In the Fire Sanctuary, Link receives yet another new item – the Mogma Mitts. Using these, he is able to access underground tunnels by digging through soft patches in the ground to explore the subterranean areas in this dungeon.
•The Quest Continues: As Link makes his way through this treacherous area and continues on his quest to find and help Zelda™, a massive eruption throws him from atop the volcano.
•More Fun in the Skies: When Link returns to Skyloft he can look forward to a multitude of fun diversions, including Pumpkin Pull, a challenging game of target shooting that involves flying pumpkins.
