I made up a little fun game if you bored and using Twitter. Make sure some sort of gaming event is going on today. Follow key journalists and see which of them posts the latest updates first. Today was the Nintendo Media Summit so for an hour my Twitter was filled with Nintendo goodness. I had 3 people fighting to get the news out their first, Brian Crecente, Nick Chester and Geoff Keighley. Geoff won for twitting first, followed by Nick. Though Crecente was first post the information on Kotaku with the Jim and Nick combo close behind on Destructoid. A nice fun interlude during a boring coursework session. Prince of Persia in Prince of Persia

Buying the Wii version of the next PoP game Forgotten Sands? No? Well this might change your might. The Wii version will have the original SNES Prince of Persia available on disc and some sort of 2 player co-op, but the added game sounds great. Gordon Brown Boasts About Video Games

The UK’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown has actually got something nice to say about video games, stating that “We’re leading the way in creative industries: by far the biggest producer of computer games in Europe. And we’re leading the way in digital communications. In a country with only one per cent of the world’s population, more than a third of all internet traffic is routed through UK servers.”

Oh god. Praise from Gordon Brown? The industry’s now cursed. Still any good news for a politician is still good news.

Recent Success of ‘Click Flicks’ Blamed on Video Games

Video games are being blamed for something yet again. Only this time not for the health and safety of your children but rather the success of chick flicks. Assassin’s Creed 2 DLC Details

A new DLC titled ‘Bonfire of the Vanities’ will be coming on February 18th. The pack will contain the next corrupted sequence, sequence 13. “which will be comprised of ten memories following Ezio’s attempt to aid Machiavelli in freeing Florence from the influence of one Savonarola. It’s up to Ezio to target key citizens under Savonarola’s control and attempt to win them over through diplomatic discourse.” I hope the next pack will be better than the last. While it was great, it was just simply like the end of the original, fighting hordes of enemies. I shall be buying it neither less I fucking love Assassin’s Creed 2.

Large Microsoft Franchise Coming to Natal

No details at the moment unfortunately. CVG has a job listing for a designer wanting someone who “can create innovative game-play solutions for a large franchise.” Natal needs better support for AAA games, apparently Fable III will have some Natel functionality, but overall it needs a killer title. I finally got me a new PS3 controller, I can now play all those PS3 games I’ve been meaning to complete. Now for the day today in the world of gaming.

Dinosaur vs Mercenaries

A multiplayer mode in a game called Primal Carnage, it will be a class objective based game with freaking dinosaurs. There are 5 classes of mercs and 5 types of dinosaurs. “‘Survival’ sees up to five mercenaries fending off AI dinosaur attacks while riding on a train, boat or the like, completing objectives and facing a boss battle at the end. ‘Power Grid’ meanwhile is Team Fortress 2-style competitive interspecies point-capturing play.” It’s great to see people do something a bit original. It’s a video game make it as wacky as possible.

High Voltage’s The Grinder Goes Multiplatform

A Left 4 Dead inspired cooperative shooter, The Grinder, has taken the opportunity to expand beyond its Wii roots to the PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 as announced by the developers today. You may no doubt recognize the developer’s, High Voltage, pedigree for producing original IPs such as The Conduit. With this announcement, the game is now due for release by Halloween 2011. Creative officer Eric Nofsinger noted, “Given the sheer amount of quality content needed to make a game of this type, our game design scope, our team size, and the amount of time we have designated for polishing the game, we are confident that this schedule allows us to meet our expectations for the game.” … Continue Reading

It’s time for another day today in the world of gaming, so I can get back and play more Dragon Age, or finally get around to watching The Wire, I’m still undecided.

Project Needlemouse is Sonic 4

That’s right we are finally seeing a 2D console Sonic after 16 years of complete shit. We all need to take it with grain of salt since well it’s been 16 years since the last good Sonic game. Sonic 4 will be coming to the PS3, 360 and Wii this summer. I want to hear more before we can judge, but Sonic Unleashed looked good at first.

Splinter Cell: Conviction Dated Set in Stone

Quite literally. IGN received a date for the next Splinter Cell written on a stone. The date is 13th April. I must say that is awesome on Ubisoft’s part, I love bad jokes like that. It’s good to see they have a sense of humour about all the delays. Kudos to you. With this coming in April it’s looking like one of the best years of gaming yet.
