Hello readers, and welcome to our newest feature. A Wednesday feature, Misplaced Mechanics will bring you three gameplay mechanics each week that just didn’t work that well with their games. This doesn’t mean the games are necessarily bad of course, in fact some of the featured games are quite good. I just want to share with you my personal experiences with bad game mechanics that drove me insane. Or at least tried to. (more…)

March 13th, 2009. Resident Evil 5 is finally out. Most people went to buy it that day. As for me, I already had it a day early and finished it in co-op on the 13th. The saga finally reaches it’s climax as everything is revealed. More or less. Some questions are still left unanswered but there’s always the next game. (more…)

RE: The Darkside Chronicles trailer

by György Brogyán - on Mar 13th 2009 - No Comments

Looks like it didn’t take Capcom too long to throw together a trailer for the game announced last week. From what we see the game may not be different in gameplay from Umbrella Chronicles, however the footage is too short to say for sure. What is certain is that the game recreates at least some of Resident Evil 2 in a first person perspective offering players to relive the events of Resident Evil 2 in a different way, playing as either Leon Scott Kennedy or Claire Redfield.

According to rumors, the game received the title Darkside Chronicles because it will reveal the truth behind many of the series’ mysteries and events that happened in the shadows. Although certainly logical, these are just rumors, so don’t believe them just yet.

Enjoy the trailer.

New Resident Evil game for the Wii

by György Brogyán - on Mar 11th 2009 - 1 Comment

The latest issue of Japanese video game magazine Famitsu revealed the title of the rumored Wii exclusive Resident Evil game. Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles may sound like Resident Evil meeting Star Wars, but it is actually a rail-shooter like Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles.

Ever since Umbrella Chronicles has been released, people have been speculating why Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica were left out of the game. The suspicions of there being a sequel are finally confirmed with The Darkside Chronicles, as the first screenshot of the game shows the classic scenes of Resident Evil 2 with brand new graphics.

As of now we do not know any details, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to know more about the contents. For now the only confirmed details is that Resident Evil 2 will be featured in it, however there’s a good chance of other Resident Evil games and brand new scenarios being included. Details are supposedly being released tomorrow, March 12th, so be on the lookout for more news on the subject.

Rumor: Silent Hill Remake?

by György Brogyán - on Feb 27th 2009 - No Comments

According to VG247, Silent Hill may be receiving a remake. The 1999 classic that brought a whole new level of horror to gaming with psychological themes and pure insanity may return to haunt us once again.

According to the rumor, Climax – the developers who brought us Silent Hill Origins – are working on the remake, with the PSP and the Wii being the systems selected to house the new version of Silent Hill. Whether the rumor is true or not is of course uncertain as neither Climax nor Konami had confirmed the truthfulness of the rumor as of yet. Konami refused to talk, while Climax was unavailable for commenting. They hadn’t come forth to say it was just a stupid rumor, so that can give fans hope, I suppose. Of course even if they are working on it, they will probably deny it until the time is right anyway.

Regardless, if the rumor turns out to be true, then PSP and Wii owners, as well as Silent Hill fans will have something to look forward to. Silent Hill was one of the greatest psychological/survival horror games of it’s time and is still among the best. Not only that, but it would finally give the PSP and especially the Wii a new, proper survival horror game.

We’ll be sure to tell you if we find out more of this matter, so stay tuned. As for me, I’m going to go check on my dust collec…I mean my Wii.
