Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time: A Review

The Great Clock!

The Great Clock, the center of this installment in the Ratchet and Clank Future series keeps time itself. “Time is not to be tampered with!” Orvus would say. A Crack in Time delves into the pasts of both Ratchet and Clank. Could the Lombax race be saved? Does Clank have a new purpose in life, that doesn’t involve Ratchet? Does Qwark get a new quirky outfit? Does Dr. Nefarious go into those random fits? Is the Plumber present?

All of these are pretty much answered in this game. “Pretty much,” because a loose end that gets tied up for this game, doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll stay tied in another. Which isn’t a bad thing, it could set up the story for other games. And with what a success this game was, I wouldn’t be questioning, “Another installment?”

The game starts out with Clank, which is a refreshing part in this game. Many people for whatever reason hate on Clank parts, but who can blame them when it’s pretty much the same thing over and over? Previously Clank parts included controlling other bots and getting from Point A to Point B. Not that bad, killing baddies in between was fun. And then others had Clank just do mini Ratchet levels in essence.

This is no longer the case, with entire sections of the Great Clock up for Clank’s discretion. One activity is fix time on planets.

Netflix is About to Hit PS3 Users!

Netflix on PS3!

And the internet is sure to let their rage be heard. “Oh wow, Sony people are fags, they’re just copying XBox, how gay,” “Xbox already has this feature, too late,” “This isn’t needed, we have a video service,” and the list goes on.

But why all the trolling? Why all the hate? Can’t we all get along and share in the joy that is Netflix? Sure XBox 360 users have had this feature for a couple of months now, and sure Sony has a video service already, but if you already have a Netflix subscription, streaming on to your console is great! And the PS3’s Netflix doesn’t require you pay for Gold membership to use it!

And others who don’t have Netflix, but are into streaming videos will surely dig this. Word on the street has it, users will get a free Blu-ray shipped to them to allow the streaming to work, hopefully until a Firmware update is released of course. This is so that they can take advantage of the BD-Live feature. But anything of this sorts is all about rejoicing.

I hear it’s awesome on the 360, I’m sure it’ll be great on the PS3. If it comes to the Wii, what else can I do but be happy for them as well? Here’s to hoping many will thoroughly be pleased with the new feature.

And this just adds to the list of what a media-hub the PS3 really is, so thumbs up Sony!

If you’d like to sign up early, here’s the link: http://www.netflix.com/ps3.

.detuned Review (Can I Call it That?)

4 Crazy Elephants!

So the PlayStation Network has had a demoscene before, it was called Linger in Shadows. Aforementioned demo, was actually entertaining, and had some real potential for future demoscenes.

That potential, a year later has hit bottom with .detuned’s release. At least the way I see it. At first I thought, “Hey, this’ll be cool if it’s like Linger in Shadows.” So I buy it, upon playing it, I notice that you are in “Demo” mode. Just some random animation of a guy sitting in a chair getting distorted to the beat, maybe getting up, just to sit back down.

You can of course skip it by pressing Square and entering interactive mode. Or watch it out, if you do, you can get a feel for what to expect in the interactive mode. It’s kinda cool, makes you think what you can do to the guy, and then watch it.

PlayStation 3 Rebranding

PlayStation 3 Rebranding

So as you may or may not be aware: the PlayStation 3 has gone through a new rebranding and jump-started marketing campaign. What with the new PS3 Slim hitting shelves at an all-time-awesome price of $299.99, who doesn’t want one now? It’s oh so tantilizing. Although, the price drop is not all that has changed.

The new PS3 Logo is a bit like the old PS2 one, but the edges have been lost, for a more sleek feel to it. It’s classy is what it is. Even the boxart for games have changed to accommodate this new logo. Stacked upon that, the new push to advertise.

How many commercials advertising the PS3 would you see? Not many, if any at all. With this new drive, we’ve seen some very well done ads boasting that the PS3 “Only does everything.” … Continue Reading

Microtastic Reviews: Zombie Edition

Plants vs Zombies
Developer: Popcap Games

There is something delightful about the charming simplicity of Popcap’s titles, and Plants vs Zombies continues this legacy. Much like Peggle and any of its past franchises, Plants vs Zombies takes a single round to comprehend all of its basic rules. Though it never becomes difficult [...]

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath & Beyond Review

The original Matt Hazard had the potential to be a great game, good voice work with the likes of Neil Patrick Harris and Will Arnett. A brilliant backstory and marketing campaign which broke the fourth wall entirely, and the story while thin was entertaining and amusing. The sole problem came in the gameplay department which [...]

SB Plays The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

When the newest entry in the beloved Zelda series was announced earlier this year, people were both excited and skeptical. How well would a train in the Zeldaverse go over with fans? Would the gameplay be a replay of Phantom Hourglass, with its infamously numerous trips through the Temple of the Ocean King?
Now that the [...]
