SparklingBlue Plays Dragon Quest 9

SparklingBlue Plays Dragon Quest 9

The Dragon Quest series has always been a bit of a niche series in most of the world, but in Japan, it has the rock star status that Final Fantasy enjoys in the US, so much so that there is supposedly a law saying that a Dragon Quest game cannot be released on a weekday (to keep people from missing work and cutting class to play it.) Furthermore, when this game released in Japan, 3 million copies sold in one weekend!

So when my copy arrived in the mail last week, I dove right in–and I can see why it sold like hotcakes in Japan.

Curious as to what spurred 3 million copies to fly off the shelves? Read on… … Continue Reading

What Happened to the Liveblog?

I suppose I owe you guys an explanation about why there was no coverage of the Nintendo conference from me…

First of all, my Web service crashed minutes before the conference started, so I had no way to see what was going on

Second of all, I had a schedule conflict with another event come up.

If there’s anything I can do to make it up to you, I will.

SparklingBlue Plays Pac-Man…on Google!

To honor Pac Man’s 30th anniversary, Google turned their logo into a giant Pac Man game!

Here’s a video of my attempt: Google Pac Man

Operation: Serial Spam

Ever since I begin posting “Pokemon: A Mage’s Tale” I’ve noticed an uptick in the spam coming in here. Whether the serial is a cause of this or not, it’s still worth seeing if there is a way to either reduce or stop the spam.

So for now, the serial is suspended until I can figure this out.

The N3 Newswire for April 1

April 1, 2010 by SparklingBlue DS, Nintendo, Wii No Comments

So I was about to go to press with today’s Nintendo headlines, but Lita, being the crafty Pikachu she is, decided to hide a few fake news stories in with the real ones. Problem is, I don’t know which ones are the fakes, so I don’t know which stories to remove!

I do know she hid five fake stories in with my list of real stories, which looked like this:

First impressions of Super Mario Galaxy 2
The GoNintendo podcast crew learns why Pokemon is so much fun!
What different members of a game dav team make per year (SB’s pick!)
Some video of Wario Ware DIY
Hands on with the DSi XL
Etrian Odyssey 3 will probably come here
Various pieces of classic Nintendo stuff on eBay
What’s coming to the Wii and the DS this month
PAX East by the numbers
New trademarks from Japan
More Super Mario Galaxy 2 scans
Miyamoto on new devs and making gaming acceptable

Stay tuned for breaking news and updates throughout the day (and thanks for helping me find the fakes)

Happy gaming,
SparklingBlue

o^-^o: She’ll never find the fakes I snuck into the list!

UPDATE: The fakes have been found and removed!

Find the Fakes Again!

So tomorrow I’m going to compile the top Nintendo headlines…but some of them may be fakes.

The rules are the same as last year–within the April 1 Newswire, there will be five fake stories hidden with the real ones. The real stories will take you to the actual source, while the fake ones will take you to a random YouTube video.

Ready to find the fakes again this year?

Until tomorrow,
SparklingBlue
