Dungeon Defenders Blends Tower Defense and Role Playing

Trendy Entertainment has announced Dungeon Defenders, a hybrid of role playing, tower defense, and third person action, set to release this fall.

Dungeon Defenders supports online and offline co-op for four players and features four playable character classes, fifteen arenas, and numerous gameplay modes. Playstation 3 owners will get the advantage of Playstation Move support and stereoscopic 3D.

Development director, Jeremy Stieglitz, describes the game, ““There is meaty character leveling and customization, awesome loot drops and plenty of team-oriented defensive strategy to manage, but then you have this action-packed wave-based standoff that gets continually more intense. It’s as deep as it is instantly fun.”

KH: Birth By Sleep Not Playable on PSP Go

KH: Birth By Sleep Not Playable on PSP Go

Square-Enix has stated that it currently has no plans on bringing the localized version of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep to the PSP Go anytime soon. Set to release on September 7, the publisher has forgone a digital release on the platform.

It is quite startling with the continuing rise of the downloadable medium and high-profile PSP games matching the day-one retail release date on the Playstation Network that a move like this would be taken. Even considering that a variety of Square-Enix published titles, e.g. Dissidia: Final Fantasy, have been released digitially. Is the publisher now backpedaling on their digital distribution efforts?

Gearbox Confirms Reveals of “Upcoming Releases”

Those who are attending PAX Prime are in for a real treat. Gearbox Software is hosting a panel which promises the reveal of “never before seen footage of upcoming releases.”

The panel description will show “juicy exclusives, surprising disclosures, unbelievable scoops and behind the scenes access on what Gearbox is up to”. These could possibly be the fourth DLC for Borderlands, Alien: Colonial Marines, or the three mystery games on the company website.

One of those games may quite possibly be Duke Nukem Forever, which was last heard on the vine that it was in development at Gearbox Software – even more strange that CEO Randy Pitchford has refused to confirm or deny the rumors. We’ll have to wait until PAX to see if this is true. Although one thing is for certain…you can always bet on Duke.

The panel runs Sunday, September 5th at 3pm PST/5pm EST. PAX Prime goes from September 3-5 in Seattle, Washington.
