Mass Effect 3 Rumored Big Reveal: Online Multiplayer Pass

by William Saw - on Oct 3rd 2011 - 1 Comment

Bioware has been rather dodgy as of late on Mass Effect 3‘s multiplayer component, neither confirming or denying that the final game in the trilogy will include a online aspect.

If we aren’t furiously typing away at our keyboards already, a retail pamphlet listing reveals a “online multiplayer pass” for Mass Effect 3′s Collectors Edition. Oddly enough, it comes from a South African retailer who outlines all the features included in the Collector’s Edition North American bundle. (more…)

Jak & Daxter HD Collection May Be In The Pipeline

by William Saw - on Oct 3rd 2011 - 1 Comment

Maybe the success of the Sly HD Collection fostered some hope in reviving Sony’s classic PS2 platformers for the current generation. (Disregard The Lost Frontier, that never existed.) Apparently, Sony is adding Naughty Dog’s Jak and Daxter titles as a compilation for early 2012 according to a listing leaked by a South African retailer. (Yes, it sounds shady.)

Sony has yet to respond to the rumor but I’d imagine we would see an announcement soon regarding the Jak and Daxter franchise. If the collection is indeed true, I would expect it to include the mainline PS2 console Jak games – Jak and Daxter, Jak 2, and Jak 3 and if they’re feeling generous Jak X: Combat Racing, even though it was mainly a spinoff title a la “Crash Team Racing.”

Resident Evil 6 Teased for Tokyo Game Show

by William Saw - on Jul 25th 2011 - 1 Comment

Capcom is teasing the next installment of its popular survival horror franchise, Resident Evil 6. Sources at Ripten note an image sent from a behind closed doors Capcom press event at San Diego Comic Con.

The image shows off what looks like the official logo for the game and date for September 15, 2011 coincidentally inaugurating the start of this year’s Tokyo Game Show in Japan. It’s up to speculation at this point but the timeline for a main console Resident Evil game is due for a media reveal and considering 2011 marks the 15th anniversary of the series.

Wii U Not Using Friend Codes

by William Saw - on Jun 9th 2011 - No Comments

In a report by Game Informer, the Nintendo Wii U may not be using friend codes on their next-gen console.

Ubisoft director Adrian Blunt stated during a demo of Ghost Recon Online that the Wii U won’t have friend codes but rather the publisher is employing their own user account system to be used with the game. “Rather than using friend codes, which we’ve had in the past, we’re able to connect players in a much easier way, which allows us to have a community that’s playing together in the game.” However, it could just mean that Ubisoft is integrating a system similar to UPlay rather than Nintendo directly stating that they will be ditching friend codes.

Spoiler Alert! Halo 4, Combat Evolved HD, Dance Central 2 Confirmed

by William Saw - on Jun 6th 2011 - 1 Comment

Actually, we just spoiled that in the title. Blame Microsoft. The US Xbox E3 website has preempted their titles early and it includes their big announcements: Halo 4, Combat Evolved HD, Dance Central 2, Kinect Sports Season 2, Kinect Star Wars, Double Fine’s Sesame Street: Once Upon a Time.

Ryse, formerly Codename Kingdoms, is listed. Kinect Fun Labs and Xbox Live voice search were also found on the page.
