Australian developer responsible for L.A. Noire entered administration late August in an effort to stay open however recent documents suggest that Team Bondi could not find a option and is now shutting down permanently.

The developer has filed a ‘notice of special resolution to wind up company,’ which is used to close up a business. It was reported in August that Team Bondi had sold its IP and assets to multimedia studio Kennedy Miller Mitchell.

Team Bondi, despite L.A. Noire being a commercial and critically acclaimed success, had a seemingly rough time after releasing the game last May. The developer faced internal investigation from the Game Developers Association over troubled development, citing harsh working conditions and delayed payouts, and reportedly a big divide between its publisher, Rockstar Games.

Rockstar is pushing out a PC port of L.A. Noire at its Leeds studio which is expected to release on November 8.

Four new cases, two new suits, and a challenge are scheduled for the coming weeks and months. All can be bought by purchasing the ‘Rockstar Pass,’ at $10 or 800MSP. Ultimately, it will save you 50% in totality rather than buying it all individually. However, the company has announced that the pass will rise to $12 starting June 14, so get it while the offer’s hot.

Each case costs $4 each, the Badge Pursuer Challenge is $2, and the suits are $1 each. The ‘Electroplating Nicholson’ case will still be free for those who snagged a voucher from Best Buy on release but its still best to buy the Rockstar Pass. Here’s what the schedule looks like:

May 31 – L.A. Noire Rockstar Pass (limited-time discount price)
May 31 – “The Naked City” DLC case
May 31 – The Badge Pursuit Challenge
June 14 – L.A. Noire Rockstar Pass (standard price)
June 21 – “Nicholson Electroplating Disaster” DLC case
July 12 – “Reefer Madness” DLC case

Take Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has announced at its quarterly conference call that it has renewed contracts with key talent at Rockstar Games including the Houser brothers and Leslie Benzies, President of Rockstar North.

Rockstar Games continue to be a key pillar for Take Two, even though its games are often left off the company’s portfolio. Agent and Max Payne 3 are currently still in development at the Rockstar studios but do not have a target release window. Yet, Take-Two boasts fondly of Red Dead Redemption‘s success in capturing 8.5 million copies sold to date and with the release of L.A. Noire, Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick had nothing but praise for the game.

From Giant Bomb:

“We certainly don’t want to be subject to [comparing] all of our new releases of new franchises against the extraordiany success of Red Dead Redemption,” said Zelnick. “Every title stands alone. We have every reason to believe L.A. Noire is another strong franchise for this company.”

“No matter how you slice it,” he said, “Ii’s a very successful release. To be able to say that again is extraordinary. This management team is just immensely grateful to Rockstar for delivering another superb title and 2K [Games] for all the franchises they’ve been delivering as of late. One can never take that for granted. The hit ration of this group is extraordinary.”

“We do see this [L.A. Noire] as a powerful new franchise for our company,” concluded Zelnick.

R* Games has opened up a redemption page for its Best Buy promotion, confirming the DLC name and date. Its titled ‘Nicholson Electroplating’ Arson Case and will release June 21.

If you were the lucky 16 people in line to purchase the game at Best Buy earlier this week, you get the DLC for free. Rockstar has not stated a price for the DLC yet, even so, code holders cannot redeem until it is released next month.

Take Two, the parent company of Rockstar, recently recieved a share boost upon the release of LA Noire. So, it’s only good to assume that the game is probably selling well.

In an 1UP interview, Team Bondi studio head Brendon McNamara mentions that content cut in LA Noire could possibly make its way as DLC or expansion in the near future. McNamara states, “…as I said earlier, we’ve got two full desks — burglary and bunko — that never made it into the game, so we’ve been thinking those and whether we’ll do them.”

A desk in LA Noire consists of multiple cases, which is similar to the context expansion of Red Dead Redemption’s “Undead Nightmare.” Whether or not, if McNamara is signaling new content or moving on to a new project altogether is yet to be seen, but keep on a look out when LA Noire drops next Tuesday, May 17 and the following weeks to see if Rockstar picks up these “desks” as possible DLC.

Rockstar Games has announced LA Noire: Remixed and LA Noire The Official Soundtrack. LA Noire Remixed is a modern take of the music found in the game. The EP features six jazz standards remixed by today’s acclaimed DJs, producers, and mixers including Dave Sitek, DJ Premier and Truth & Soul.

The LA Noire Official Soundtrack, inspired by the orchestral scores of the 1940s, was recorded at the world’s famous Abbey Road Studios and is composed by Andrew Hale. Hale’s notable video game compositions include Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and The Getaway. The soundtrack also includes the work of Stephen Coates with guest vocals from Claudia Brucken and additional music from Woody Brooklyn, best known for his work in collaboration with Bill Elm on the original score for Red Dead Redemption.

LA Noire’s music will be a integral part of the game, helping players clue in on additional evidence or when a crime scene has been completed scoured for hints. In addition, LA Noire has over 32 different jazz tracks from the era including Billie Holiday, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Thelonious Monk.

Both LA Noire: Remixed and LA Noire The Official Soundtrack will be available for purchase through iTunes on May 17th.
