You will be able to download full-length movies from the Playstation Store. When though? Today. Yes, tonight is when the new Playstation Store will have the Video Download service. But Sony won’t be the only one in on this, here’s the list of studios that will be in first:
Sony Pictures
FOX
MGM
Lion’s Gate
Warner
Disney
Paramount
Turner
Funimation
The pricing will be $1.99 per episode, $2.99-$4.99 for rentals and $9.99-$14.99 for movies, of course with SD and HD variations. And all of this is portable, you can hook up your PSP to the PS3 and copy it into your PSP instantly. You can even go unto the PC Playstation Store and download it from there unto your PSP with the new Single Sign-In.
Eric Lempel then came on stage and signed into the Network and went into the Playstation Store. Now in the upper left-hand corner you will notice two tabs, the new one being “Video.” You click on this Video tab and you will be taken into a lighter background Video Store with videos as the main attraction.
You can filter how you view everything by categories, and then they have sub-categories, search by genres and studios, etc. etc. Each video will show information, such as move length, studio, producers, etc. etc. and each video can have Previews, where a streamed video is shown. It’ll take about an hour to download a two hour long SD movie, so Disney movies being shorted than most will take the least amount of time to download.
It’ll start out with 85 videos and updates will bring more each and every week. Can we look forward to Thursday updates bringing us Video Store Updates as well? Here’s to hoping that’s a yes!
