Left 4 Dead is essentially done, it is undergoing rigorous playtesting and tweaking as it is readying for release.
The pipe bomb has reciveved a massive upgrade from its previous build, it now emits flashing lights and droning alarm sounds in order to draw in more zombies and provide a more breathtaking explosion of zombie matter.
There are redesigns for the four major characters as previously mentioned, transforming them from battle hardened veterans to those who look fresh out of a recent outbreak. Characters will be assigned randomly to players when joining a game and the newly introduced two-player split screen play mode will be restrictive to the Xbox 360 version and will not appear on the PC.
Visual effects have been tweaked, one small feature was that players would get “slimed” by the Boomer, has now recieved a considerable upgrade as the screen becomes warped and distorted becoming nearly impossible to tell friend from foe. This may seem like a minimal adjustment but it ultimately becomes more integral in a game where friendly-fire was placed on it made all the difference. Once players would get “slimed”, they would draw in more zombies and could not see where they would be shooting. This in effect elevates the Boomer, to one of the most terrifing foes in the game.
The HUD (Heads Up Display) has been changed as to have on-screen indicators for hazards and also assist mortally wounded players by pointing them towards the right direction.
Left 4 Dead will be coming to retailers November 4th for Xbox 360 and PC.
