Today’s Nintendo Press Conference revealed Wii Speak, a set-top microphone used as a peripheral to the Nintendo Wii console.
The microphone peripheral will sit on top of the television set and allow multiple users to use the device simultaneously. It will make its debut along with Animal Crossing City Folk which will use the microphone in order to communicate to other players in game, such as when you explore a friend’s town. In addition, Nintendo promises standard voice chat with other players via Nintendo’s Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Wii Speak peripheral will be sold separately at the price point of $29.99 and will launch around the same time as Animal Crossing: City Folk coming towards the end of 2008.
