I’m sure many of you have lost hours of brilliant progress down the drain all because the power went out at the most inopportune time. The memory detailed below is why I always save more often when it’s storming outside.
When I was younger, my younger sister and me would occasionally spend the day back in our parents’ room (where the NES was) and try to complete the original Legend of Zelda. We did use a Game Genie to make Link invincible so the later stages wouldn’t take that big a toll on us. It would take us the whole day to get to Demon (stage 7), at which point Dad would join our quest.
On one occasion, we made it all the way to Death Mountain, and were battling Ganon for the very first time. Just before we could deliver the final blow with the Silver Arrow….the power goes out.
We were quite heartbroken and sad.
We finally did finish the game–and unlocked the second quest–some days later.
I still have yet to conquer the second quest.
Happy gaming,
