Streets in North London have been gridlocked today following EA’s Mercenaries 2: World in Flames promotion giving away £40 worth of free petrol to every customer for four hours. As many customers scrambled to get their free fuel, many peoples daily journeys were brought to a stand still.
Taken from bbc.co.uk:
Lynne Featherstone, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green, said: “Whilst a lucky few might have got free petrol, hundreds of residents have faced misery”.
The Liberal Democrat said: “Trying to recreate Venezuelan-style fuel riots on the streets of London is completely irresponsible and downright dangerous.
“Hundreds of local residents have faced misery on their daily journeys this morning.
“They deserve an apology for being the victims of such an ill thought-out media stunt.”
Security had to be brought in to control the traffic, while one local resident found it hard to even get out of his driveway.
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, already available in the US, is released today in Europe with Australia following on September 30th for Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and PC.

Must be crowded in London because the promotion worked well in Los Angeles here in the US.
