Linger in Shadows is what they call a “demoscene,” which is fancy for saying “Interactive Digital Art,” which is saying it’s a video pretty much. But it’s interactive. Linger in Shadows came out on the PS Store last Thursday and is priced at $2.99, clearly not a game.
Plastic created Linger in Shadows to test the PS3’s hardware. It’s a stretch, everyone who worked on it worked on it in their free-time, they all had full-time jobs.
The cool thing about demoscenes is that you can watch it many times and get new things out of them. The cooler thing about Linger in Shadows is that you can experiment with the controls, with the SIXAXIS and how you watch it. This is what was the intent with Linger in Shadows.
Since we already know this isn’t game, but more of a video, how do you traverse it? Simply by watching through and using your SIXAXIS controller to find things you didn’t before. You get tips if you miss something a few times so as not to become frustrating. DUALSHOCK 3 controllers are also supported.
Trophies are also in the game, but how they work are different than traditional Trophies and are rewarded to the players for finding extras you wouldn’t previously have found.
