As long last, here’s my review of Final Fantasy 3 DS:
Story: Yes, I know it’s the same old “save the world” type story we all know and love (or love to hate) but in this case, Square tried to flesh it out a little with new events and actual personalities for the characters. Based on what I’ve seen so far, it works.
Graphics: The world is as close to 3D as you can get without getting on a big console. However, this comes with a cost–sometimes the landscape will look grainy and squished, but this is due to the fact the DS isn’t quite as powerful compared to a big console. Graininess aside, it is still a very nice attempt to do 3D on a handheld.
Sound: No problem here–blades ring, ice shatters, magic sparkles. Music wise, the beloved Prelude and victory theme are both present, which made me smile. One notable track I like (so far) is Castle Sasune, which sounds very dreamy and ethereal.
Controls: My only gripe here is that when Luneth walks, he goes veeeeeeeeerrrrrrrry ssssssslllllloooooowwww–is there a run feature I don’t know about? Other than this, they are very responsive and work well.
Nice Touches: I couldn’t resist smiling when the dancer from FFV returned, as did the piano minigame (so far, my Luneth can play most of Fur Elise)
Overall: 8.5/10 (points taken off for graphics and slow walking)
If you’re willing to put up with a few flaws, this is worth buying.
Happy gaming,

If I remember rightly there is an option to make Luneth run instead of walk.

And I found it not long after I posted the review.
