The thing with FFVII is that back then, it made such a massive impact on RPG’s. It brought RPG’s to the mainstream gaming audience, and delt with more mature themes than most RPG’s of that era. That’s why so many remember it as one of the best games of all time, it was many gamers first experience with an RPG, and it blew them away. There’s no doubt it is an amazing game, but I will admit that time has sadly taken its toll on it, and it doesn’t hold up as well as it used to. I suspect most of my generation will always remember it as one of the all time greats though, however flawed it may now seem.

I understand the impact it had, and it deserved its time in the spotlight, but the reason I beg to differ is because there are games out now that pass it.
