One story on the newswire brought up an interesting question: What gets you to sit down and play a game?
For me, two things get my attention: story and music.
I want to be able to feel a connection with the characters and their world the moment I turn the console on. Mind you, not every game needs to be a typical story–some kind of goal will do. If a game can get me to cheer for the heroes or make the activity fun, I’ll likely try it.
Secondly, there’s music. There’s a reason why I love such tracks as the Mario and Zelda themes (to name two examples–they’re insanely catchy and easy to sing along with–so much so I find myself singing the songs at odd times (or even the bass line, in the case of Isle Delfino Plaza)
How about you guys–what makes you want to sit down with a game?
Happy gaming,
