NewsVine – 25th January 2010

Howdy folks, we’re starting yet again another week that is sure to be filled with video game news so stick around as we bring you the latest updates around the vine.

Medal of Honor Reboot Using Two Engines

An interesting story if you like to follow game development. It seems that EA tweeted that the singleplayer and multiplayer portions of Medal of Honor won’t share the same engine. Makes sense as EA Los Angeles is handling the singleplayer while Battlefield creator DICE is working on multiplayer. The singleplayer is using a heavily modified version of Unreal Engine 3 while the multiplayer uses the Frostbite engine, as used previously in Battlefield: Bad Company.

Wii ‘Classic Controller Pro’ Coming to North America, Bundled With Monster Hunter Tri

Nintendo has announced that the long awaited ‘Classic Controller Pro’ for the Nintendo Wii will arrive April 2010. The controller now features two extra shoulder buttons and longer grips in contrast to the standard Classic Controller and will be available in black and white models priced at $19.99. April will also be the month that sees the arrival Japanese record combo-breaker Monster Hunter Tri in North America, coming bundled with a black ‘Classic Controller Pro’ at $59.99.

Platinum Games Fourth Game to be Announced at this week’s GTTV

Journalist Geoff Keighley tweeted that this week’s episode will see the reveal of Japanese developer Platinum Games’s next video game. Given a SEGA publishing deal in 2008 to distribute four games, all we know about the fourth title is that it will be headed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami.

But if you need a simple explanation of what the game’s about, it basically Gears of War, not that that’s bad or anything. This quote from the ESRB website makes it sound awesome though:

And when enemies’ heads get hit, a slow-motion animation sometimes follows: blood splatter, coal-like chunks, blocky armor, and fleshy gibs will scatter then disintegrate. The effect is closer to gratuitous and over-the-top than dramatic or viscerally intense [though it is certainly a driving factor for the Mature rating, the Blood and Gore, the Violence]

Dead of Alive Paradise Trailer Shows Off Tits and Ass

Rounding out our final news piece today. Tecmo’s released the first trailer of the PSP Dead or Alive: Paradise and you’ll never guess what it has…
