The initial shipment of 400,000 units for 3DS have completely sold out during first day sales in Japan. A majority held by people who had preordered the system.
Andriasang [Nikkei] states that Japanese retailers recieved only 400k units in total, although a second shipment arrived on the second day. The Japanese 3DS launch offerings included: Pro Evolution Soccer 3DS, Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, Samurai Warriors: Chronicles, Bust-a-Move Universe, Nintendogs + Cats, Ridge Racer 3D, Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D, and Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle.
The company expects the handheld to sell at least 4 million 3DS units in the five weeks leading to its European/American launch. The Nintendo 3DS went on sale in Japan at 25k yen. Its expected to launch in Europe on March 25 at 250 Euros and March 27 in North America for $250. In Australia, the 3DS releases March 31 for $350 AUD.
