God of War Launches in 2018, New Gameplay & Story Details

The upcoming God of War game for the PlayStation 4, which was officially unveiled last E3, received a new trailer at Sony’s E3 2017 press conference. The trailer shows more interactions between Kratos and his son Atreus, a look at its combat, and glimpses of how Norse mythology fills its world.

According to the official overview from PlayStationGod of War gives Kratos a second chance as he tries to protect his son in a dangerous world. It intends to reinvent the gameplay and storytelling from previous games in the series while keeping them true to its core elements.

In addition to the trailer shown at Sony’s press conference, God of War was also featured at a special panel discussion on June 13. It began with a beautiful sand art demonstration to help fill in the gap between the previous God of War game and this one, with images of Kratos, Atreus, and the woman who is presumably Atreus’s mother.

After the sand art, the team sat down to discuss the game, its story direction, and its gameplay. Among other things, they assured fans that Atreus won’t be “a burden.” Overall, the panel discussion is well worth listening to if you’re interested in learning more about God of War.

The new God of War game has clear differences from the previous games in the series, but so far it looks like it will be a worthy follow-up. God of War will become available for the PlayStation 4 in early 2018.
