Toy Story Comes Alive in Kingdom Hearts III

Square Enix and Disney took to the stage at this year’s D23 conference to announce the long-awaited inclusion of a Toy Story world in Kingdom Hearts III. The new trailer, with noticeably Pixar-like visuals, shows off Andy’s room and the characters that inhabit it, ranging from Woody and Buzz to Rex and the toy soldiers. Sora’s new “toy” look is also shown, fitting in line with the Halloweentown and Atlantica costumes of previous games.

Square Enix also took this opportunity to announce that Kingdom Hearts III will be released in 2018 for the PS4 and Xbox One, barring any unforeseen delays. Tetsuya Nomura, Director of the KINGDOM HEARTS series, commented on the inclusion of a Toy Story world:

“At long last, we are excited to open up the KINGDOM HEARTS universe to include the world of Disney Pixar’s ‘Toy Story. I’m sure fans have been anticipating the inclusion of this world for many years. The narrative will be an original story exclusive to KINGDOM HEARTS III, and the gameplay will feel characteristic of the ‘Toy Story’ style and aesthetic. Please stay tuned for more details to be revealed soon.”
