SPECULATION: Is BlackBeard in Jump Force?

One Piece fans may be in for a surprise when it comes to which One Piece villain will be playable in Jump Force, Bandai’s upcoming 3D crossover fighter. Following the recent news of Bleach protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki’s inclusion in Jump Force, I noticed something interesting. As you may know, the closed-door E3 Jump Force presentation I attended showed off manga panels featuring multiple playable characters.

The mentioned panel (in English)

I brought up in my preview that, alongside these already announced fighters, a few unannounced characters snuck their way into the presentation. While I wasn’t sure if this meant they’d be playable, a recent screenshot of Jump Force has made me confident that Marshall D. Teach, better known as Blackbeard, will be One Piece‘s playable villain.

Supplementing his appearance in the presentation, Blackbeard’s flag was featured prominently in an image of Jump Force‘s newest stage on the same page of Weekly Jump that Ichigo Kurosaki was announced on. You can see this image below, with a clearer image of Teach’s Jolly Roger for comparison:

Does this mean Blackbeard is guaranteed to be a playable character? No, but the odds are looking better than ever for One Piece‘s most despicable pirate.
