Many Nights a Whisper Announced – A Meditative Archery Game by Deconstructeam

Ten years ago, you were chosen to perform a ritual. Since then, you’ve been dedicating yourself in body and mind to training. The stakes are pretty high here. You need to shoot a fireball into a giant chalice, and if you do, all our wishes will come true. If you miss, no wishes will EVER come true. Deconstructeam’s new game Many Nights a Whisper is a narrative third-person archery game, a short and meditative interactive tale about dreams, pressure, and expectations. Many Nights a Whisper wants to ask you if you had one shot to get everything you ever wanted, would you go for it, or just let it slip?

Deconstructeam specializes in narrative experiences that almost demand reflection from the player. Often asking the player obfuscated questions with deeper meanings and asking you to consider the weight of the words being presented. With a short 60 minutes of gameplay time, Many Nights a Whisper was designed to be experienced in a single sitting. We’ll experience the routine of the Dreamer, the person chosen to perform this ceremony. You’ll train with your slingshot during the day and engage with your mentor in intimate discussions. At night, you’ll visit the Confession Wall and listen to the townsfolk, deciding whether or not to grant their wishes. A short, meditative, experimental game is firmly within Deconstructeam’s wheelhouse.

Since I’ve been at Monstervine I’ve always taken the chance to play and spread word about Deconstructeam’s games. After playing The Red Strings Club I couldn’t help but feel like Deconstructeam was doing something special. That feeling was validated in 2021 when I played and reviewed Essays on Empathy, giving it a 4.5/5. Again, in 2023 when I reviewed their most recent title The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, it got another 4.5/5. And later that year it was my runner-up for GOTY.

Selkie Harbor is a name I’ve only heard in passing but a quick glance at their itch.io page makes me think they’ll be an excellent partner with Deconstructeam. Releasing short experiences that range from truly beautiful like Rêverie, to out-of-this-world like The Anglerfish Project. And if you’re interested in experiencing an early collaboration between Deconstructeam and Selkie Harbor, Everything You Didn’t Get To Do has you covered. These two teams seem made for each other, and Selkie Harbor’s involvement makes me even more excited for Many Nights a Whisper.

Many Nights a Whisper Key Features

  • Deconstructeam’s signature narrative design features ethical conundrums and heartfelt conversations.
  • Selkie Harbour’s technical expertise brings to life a colorful low-poly 3D ruin-strewn archipelago inspired by Iberian culture.
  • Through fingerspit’s on-brand style, savor a contemplative, piano-driven soundtrack that weaves a dreamy and immersive ambient soundscape.

fingerspit’s involvement is expected but very welcome. What would narrative be without music? fingerspit’s style has helped pull me into Deconstructeam’s games every time.

Many Nights a Whisper has no official release date yet other than aiming for Spring of 2025. Currently, the Many Nights a Whisper Steam page is up and the game can be wishlisted.
