The Knightling Launches August 28 – A New Open-World Adventure Awaits

Can you live up to Sir Lionstone’s expectations if you’re just a knightling? Seems we’ll get a chance to figure out if we’ve got what it takes on August 28th when The Knightling launches on PC & Consoles. Twirlbound, developers of Pine, have been toiling away working on their next open-world action-adventure game The Knightling. As The Knightling you’ll be shadowing the great Sir Lionstone, the most powerful knight and protector of the city of Clesseia. But what’s this? He hasn’t returned from his latest quest! And now it’s up to our littlest guy, the only one trusted by Sir Lionstone to take on their legacy, to show the world what a Knightling is made of. Let’s take a look at what we can expect when The Knightling launches on August 28th.

Twirlbound looks to be establishing themselves as an open world action-adventure powerhouse. Pine was a fairly good addition to the genre and it The Knightling looks to build on that legacy by creating a cute and fun action-adventure title. Based on the trailer alone the game looks slick and fluid with it’s movement and combat. Two things that are absolutely essential to an open world title. What we know so far is that we’re playing as a little knightling shadowing the protector of the realm and after he goes missing, it’s up to us as The Knightling to save them. While Sir Lionstone wields a sword, he leaves the shielding up to The Knightling. With a trusty shield as the only weapon, we’ll be blocking, gliding, and sliding with this useful tool. I wonder what else we’ll be doing…

The Knightling Key Features

  • All Heroes Start Small – Play as the Knightling, a brave knight-in-training who must embark on a daring quest to rescue their mentor, the great Sir Lionstone. Battle powerful foes, upgrade and master your abilities, and protect the people of the realm. Gather your courage and prove that even the smallest among us can be a hero!
  • The Best Offense is a Good Defense – The Best Offense Is a Good Defense: Harness the power of Sir Lionstone’s magical shield in action-packed combat against the realm’s greatest challenges. Use the shield’s might to block, bash, parry, and create openings in enemy defenses, then finish the job with huge attacks and combos.
  • Slide Into Adventure – Set off on an epic journey across Clesseia’s many diverse regions, using the astounding power of the shield to slide and dash across the land with ease! Explore the world, mastering platforming and puzzle challenges with the shield’s unique abilities to earn rewards for upgrades.

Conceptually, a break-away from the standard sword wielding knight is exciting. And with the open world action-adventure element, I expect the shield to play a pivotal role in both navigation as well as fighting. The Knightling also looks considerably better than Pine, though that’s to be expected for a game that came out five years ago. The Knightling launches on August 28th for the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch. A demo is currently availalable for The Knightling on Steam.
