The internationally acclaimed creative murder sandbox HITMAN World of Assassination is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 for its release month. HITMAN World of Assassination – Signature Edition will include the main campaign, Contracts mode, Escalation, Elusive Target arcades, featured live content, Freelancer game mode, plus all HITMAN 2 Expansion Pack & HITMAN 3 Deluxe pack content.
What’s been marketed as a sort of “Greatest Hits” collection of the HITMAN series was previously available for the Nintendo Switch. However, it was only available via cloud streaming, requiring a strong internet connection on a wireless-only system (unless you owned the Ethernet adapter peripheral). Cloud streaming is somewhat maligned among Switch games, offering titles that could never reasonably be played on the hardware and using technology that even 15 years ago would have seemed unbelievable, but being a far cry from playing the game natively on the actual hardware.
In the award-winning game, players control master assassin Agent 47 to explore stealth-based sandboxes and take down high-profile targets. Explore intricate, open-ended environments, using disguises, creative tools, and concealment tactics to execute missions. From the glamorous runways of a fashion show in Paris, to the dizzying heights of Dubai’s skyscrapers, or the rapturous crowd of a high-speed race in Miami, operatives will travel all around the world to find their next target. The gameplay emphasizes strategy, improvisation, and replayability, rewarding experimentation and attention to detail.
IO Interactive is announcing that not only will the HITMAN World of Assassination – Signature Edition release alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 in June, it’ll be played natively on the console without cloud-streaming. This is a big move for both the Nintendo Switch and the HITMAN series itself. Showing a vote of confidence in the hardware from IO Interactive’s end and showing off the power of the hardware itself on Nintendo’s end. If I had to bet, I’d say cloud-streaming isn’t gone from the platform, but this early in it’s lifecycle should result in a significant reduction in third-party titles requiring cloud streaming.
The HITMAN World of Assassination – Signature Edition will maintain parity with the other versions of the game, but pre-orders for both digital and physical copies of HITMAN World of Assassination – Signature Edition will get access to the Signature Pack, containing 2 additional in-game outfits and items.
The Signature Pack is Mario-themed, offering a red suit with a white tie option, or a grey suit with a red tie option. Along with the costumes, it comes with a golden wrench and a mushroom. The “Quack Pack” includes a green suit and gray gloves/hat costume as well as access to a green duck. We salute you, Luigi assassin.
There’s no official release date yet, but IO Interactive feels confident it’ll release in June 2025, the same month as the Nintendo Switch 2. HITMAN World of Assassination is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation PS VR2, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch. There is no word on whether or not the Signature Pack or Quack Pack will be available for purchase outside of the pre-orders. More details on physical copies are on the way, so keep an eye on MonsterVine for more news on HITMAN World of Assassination – Signature Edition.
