Localization publisher Carpe Fulgur, responsible for Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale has confirmed that its next title it will bring over to the west is Fortune Summoners: Secret of the Elemental Stone by Lizsoft.
Founder of Carpe Fulgur, Andrew Dice, describes Fortune Summoners as, “a side-scrolling platformer action-RPG, cut from the same sort of cloth as Zelda II, Wonder Boy or the original Ys III (Wanderers From Ys, not Oath in Felghana).” The publisher previously revealed plans to publish Fortune Summoners but ran into a roadblock with Japanese developer Lizsoft citing “a couple of fairly major differences in philosophy,” notably its Carpe Fulgur’s anti-DRM policy. However everything worked all fine in the end and the game will release DRM-free in the West.
The localized release of Fortune Summoners will feature “graphical enhancements” in its Deluxe edition offering but will only feature the voices from the original edition. The “professional” voice-over Deluxe edition is going to be offered under a separate licence as “the going rate for getting the rights for the ‘pro’ voice-work would’ve immediately turned everyone at CF into hobos. There was no way to afford it and stay in business.”
The publisher hopes to distribute Fortune Summoners for PC around “November-to-early-December” preceded by a demo in September or October. The studio’s other title, Chantelise, is also being worked on for localization.
