Miyazaki Plays Video Games . . . Actually, Only Once

Miyazaki Hayao!

Anime movie designer, Hayao Miyazaki has created many movies, Spirited Away, Nausica and the Valley of the Wind and a whole slew of many others! Thing is, the misconception is that everyone in Japan loves video games and anime, not so, Miyazaki only loves anime:

Question: So do you use internet?
Answer: No. I don’t have a computer or fax. I don’t have a DVD player either and I forgot how to use a video recorder. I even seldom watch television.
Question: How about the use of e-mail?
Answer: No. I write letters when I need.
Question: And video games?
Answer: No. I once played Shogi (note: a Japanese kind of chess) with a computer and lost. The PC checks all approaches. That’s not fair.
Question: …sigh…
Answer: He is sighing… (laughing).

What would we do in this world if Miyazaki didn’t love anime? He apparently even smokes 30 packs of cigerattes, get this man to watch someone play MGS4, quick! I mean, he’s almost 70 years old and got his lungs checked, they’re fine! The interview is a good read, he’s quite old-fashioned, which makes him more insanely loveable.
