We hop back into another round of The Appetizer with a look at the remake Ratchet and Clank on the Playstation 4.
For this video, Will and Austin discuss the differences in the re-imagining of the Ratchet and Clank game compared to the original, its ties to the movie releasing later this April, and whether this is the entry point for newcomers into the long storied franchise.
Insomniac Games released Ratchet and Clank first, on April 12, before its CG-animated movie adaption releases in theaters on April 29, 2016. Available only on the Playstation 4 and priced at 39.99 USD, the official tagline is: “play the game, based on the movie, based on the game.” The PS4 game retells the story from Captain Quark’s perspective, allowing the development team leeway with changes to the level design, cutscenes, and overall narrative.
Players will have a handful of fan favorite weapons in their arsenal, ranging from the dance-party inducing Groovitron to the brand new Pixelizer, transforming enemies into 8-bit pixels. Join Ratchet, Clank, and Captain Qwark as they take on the evil Chairman Drek in the game’s origin story.
