PS3 NewsWire – 13th January

January 13, 2009 by Craig Ballard PS3 1 Comment

Well thank you Andy for getting the Bodyform advert stuck in my head, Zack I look forward to hear you trying to sing it.

In the news today, Sony are expecting loses, free prizes for new MGO users, new Killzone 2 Trailer and Mirror’s Edge DLC has been dated.

Sony Expecting Loses of $1.1 billion, first lose in 14 years

And the Second lose in the companies history. You can blame the current state of the world economy for that, with everyone is a state of panic over a natural economic cycle, getting a new TV is the last thing on your mind. No wonder they are going to have to cut 16,000 jobs, Ouch. Heck the only Japanese company that hasn’t been hit hard was Nintendo.

New Killzone 2 Trailer

Titled Hit Response. 2 minutes of slow motion deaths with slow classical music. I don’t get the current trend of slow/classical song for video game adverts. Gear did it, Halo did it, so obviously the Killzone has to. They all try to make them seem deep and artsy when all you do is kill, kill, kill, reload and kill. Only one that didn’t was World at War but that just ended up being tasteless.

Free Prize for Metal Gear Online Newcomers

Konami have added a Rookie Campaign which allows new members to gain 5000 in-game points which you can spend on pimping out your character. Downside is only those who haven’t registered to the game can take advantage of this.

Mirror’s Edge DLC Dated

29th January to be exact. Good, some speed run DLC which I won’t be downloading. But for those who are interested it will cost $10 and 800 Mircosoft points, and with that you will get 7 brand new maps which consist of random blocks suspended in the air with magic.
