NewsVine – 24th February 2010

I made up a little fun game if you bored and using Twitter. Make sure some sort of gaming event is going on today. Follow key journalists and see which of them posts the latest updates first. Today was the Nintendo Media Summit so for an hour my Twitter was filled with Nintendo goodness. I had 3 people fighting to get the news out their first, Brian Crecente, Nick Chester and Geoff Keighley. Geoff won for twitting first, followed by Nick. Though Crecente was first post the information on Kotaku with the Jim and Nick combo close behind on Destructoid. A nice fun interlude during a boring coursework session. Now for the day today in the world of gaming.

Prince of Persia in Prince of Persia

Buying the Wii version of the next PoP game Forgotten Sands? No? Well this might change your might. The Wii version will have the original SNES Prince of Persia available on disc and some sort of 2 player co-op, but the added game sounds great. With the Wii always been the worse of all the multi-platform games this sort of bonus is a nice extra so all those Wii owners don’t feel jipped.

Nintendo Media Summit

Tons of Wii News today from the Nintendo Media Summit so Here is a simple list of them all so we don’t have Nintendo hog the whole NewsVine.

Metroid: Other M coming out June 27th
Super Mario Galaxy coming out May 23rd
Photo Dojo for DSi
Monster Hunter Tri coming April 20, Wii Speak and free online
DSi XL Next Month, $190
WiiWare Titles announced, MegaMan and Cave Story
E-books on Nintendo DS
Dragon Quest IX this Summer

All I can say is way to go Nintendo. Amazing line-up. I hope they keep it up after E3.

EA want cheaper consoles

Not just the PS3, the 360 as well. “I think pricing has not come down as much as we would have expected at this point in the cycle compared to the last. We do have a long way to go with respect to pricing. Last cycle, approximately 48 percent of PlayStation 2 units were sold at a price point of $149 or less. Clearly at $299 we’re nowhere near that price point.”

Don’t forget this is a much longer life cycle than the last, so this point is a bit flawed. In an economic time of constant bad news, another price cut isn’t going to help.

Split/Second Dated and Renamed in Europe

It’s been dated for May 18th here is good old Europe and has been renamed to Split/Second: Velocity for some reason. I’m personally looking forward to this game, I like more destruction based driving game. Chances are I’ll be picking this year. This is looking to be the best year of game. Many great games are and having coming out every month. It’s a nice change.
