Redbox offical announced today that they will begin offering game rentals at 21,000 loacations starting June 17, 2011. Rentals will cost $2, in comparsion to $1 for their DVD’s, and $1.50 for their Blu-ray movies.
“Redbox will increase consumers’ access to video game rentals by leveraging our incredible technology and business model to keep rental prices low for consumers,” said President of Redbox, Mitch Lowe.
The company began testing their game rental model a couple years ago at 5,000 locations, and finally decided to offically expand. Redbox will offer PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii titles for rental.
Redbox will have to compete against other gaming rental services, such as GameFly and Blockbuste. Anyone out there ready to have another option for renting games, especailly for $2?
