Hearthstone, the digital card game from Blizzard featuring the “Heroes of Warcraft” is entering its open beta stage today in North America and coming in the next few days to other regions.
After being debuted last March at PAX east and entering a closed beta in fall, Hearthstone has been generating a lot of positive buzz. A free to play competitive card game with micro transactions didn’t exactly bring fill me with excitement, but after giving the game a fair shot, I discovered the game to be be very complex in strategy and full of that amazing, detailed presentation that Blizzard is known for.
You can spend real world money to enter the Arena (where you build a temporary deck and play for bigger rewards) or on expert card packs (which are guaranteed to have rarer cards). But you don’t have to spend a dollar and just invest time playing and learning strategies while earning in game gold and get access same content.
Head over to Blizzard’s Hearthstone page to download the beta and get playing for free.
If you want to see someone who doesn’t really know what he is doing make a fool of himself playing Hearthstone, check out the MosnterMonday where I do exactly that.
