EVERY Suit Referenced in Marvel’s Spider-Man [SPOILERS]

Spider-Man is nothing if not fashionable, and his plethora of in-game suits is proof of this. While there are some original spider-suits available, there are quite a few that are pulled straight out of the source material. Here’s a list of suits that are taken from various Spider-Man stories and their first appearances.

Scarlet Spider/Ben Reilly (Web of Spider-Man #118)

Back in the 90’s, Peter Parker had a clone (or a lot of them, more accurately). As one of these clones, Ben Reilly took to the streets as his own Spider-Man, dubbed the Scarlet Spider. This is the costume he wore in the controversial “Clone Saga”, and his more recent miniseries.

Animated Series (Spider-Man: The Animated Series)

Based on the fantastic Spider-Man cartoon from the 90’s, this suit is pretty close to the classic outfit. The suit is cel-shaded in order to better emulate the feeling of animation, which is especially effective when contrasted with the realistic setting.

Noir (Spider-Man Noir #1)

This suit is based on the one donned by a Spider-Man from a darker and based on the atmosphere of “noir” films and media. Though this version of Spider-Man uses firearms in his source material, Marvel’s Spider-Man doesn’t let you gun criminals down. Probably for the best.

Secret War (Secret War #3)

This is the suit worn by Spider-Man in the “Secret War” comic event from 2004. Multiple heroes are recruited by Nick Fury to infiltrate Latveria in order to stop the beginnings of a possible terrorist attack on the United States.

Fear Itself (Fear Itself #7)

Worn by Spider-Man in the “Fear Itself” event, this suit was made by the Dwarves of Nidavellir. Spider-Man wears this in the battle against the God of Fear (Cul Borson) and his chosen “Worthy”. The suit is equipped with arm blades and a slick neon glow.

Negative Suit (Spider-Man #90, Brand New Day?)

This suit is a bit harder to place, as it has two possible origins. It looks a great deal like the suit Spider-Man used when in the Negative Zone, but its photo-negative appearance also somewhat resembles Peter’s costume after being touched by Mr. Negative in the “Brand New Day” arc.

Spider-Man 2099 (Amazing Spider-Man #365)

A fan-favorite costume, the 2099 suit actually belongs to Miguel O’Hara, a young man in the distant future who has his DNA rewritten. Now boasting 50% spider DNA, Miguel becomes Spider-Man 2099 and battles corrupt corporations and futuristic super-villains.

Spider-Man 2099 (White) (Spider-Man 2099 Vol 3 #1)

Made for Miguel O’Hara by Peter Parker himself, the white version of Spider-Man 2099’s suit uses unstable molecules to improve all of the suits basic functions and durability.

Last Stand (Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #58)

This suit has a pretty dark origin, as it originates from an alternate future where Peter murders Kraven the Hunter and Doctor Octopus. A series of events unfold that turn Spider-Man into a violent anti-hero.

Ghost Spider (Amazing Spider-Man Annual #38)

Belonging to another alternate version of Peter Parker, the Ghost Spider suit is the result of Peter’s soul being in Hell while his body was comatose, infusing him with the souls of the damned. Why was Peter in Hell? Because he tried to steal the powers of Universe 626’s Peter Parker, only to be accidentally knocked-out by Uncle Ben. It’s a very long story.

Big Time (Amazing Spider-Man #650)

Swinging back to the main 616 universe, the Big Time suit (also known as the Stealth Suit) bends light and sound in order to render its user invisible. Peter uses it against the Hobgoblin, though it’s later used by Kaine Parker, another one of Peter’s clones.

Wrestler (Ultimate Spider-Man #3)

Most of Spider-Man’s origin stories have him begin his career as a wrestler, though this specific version of the wrestling costume comes from the “Ultimate” universe. You can actually see the mask’s design in one of Peter’s backpacks in-game, meaning this is likely his canon wrestling outfit in the universe of Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Stark Suit (Captain America: Civil War/Spider-Man Homecoming)

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes the Stark Suit, made for Peter by Tony Stark/Iron Man. Peter receives the suit after teaming-up with Tony to battle Captain America and his allies who resist the Sokovia Accords. Peter continues to use the suit throughout Spider-Man Homecoming, and even at the beginning of the more recent Avengers: Infinity War.

Homemade (Spider-Man Homecoming)

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peter Parker uses this suit during his first run as Spider-Man and after the Stark Suit is taken from him during the events of Spider-Man Homecoming.

Infinity War/Iron-Spider (Spider-Man Homecoming/Avengers: Infinity War)

This is the enhanced suit that Tony Stark gives Peter at the end of Spider-Man Homecoming, though it doesn’t see much use until Spider-Man boards Ebony Maw’s ship in Avengers Infinity War.

Spider-ArmorMk. 2 (Amazing Spider-Man #656)

After losing his Spider-Sense, Peter Parker develops this suit to protect himself from bullets as he pursues the villainous Massacre. Peter would go on to make better versions of the armor, like the ones below.

Spider- Armor – Mk. 3 (Amazing Spider-Man #682)

Made for use against the Sinister Six, Peter finds himself donning this version of the Spider-Armor to stop a dying Doctor Octopus’s final plan to damage the planet.

Spider-Armor – Mk. 4 (Amazing Spider-Man Vol 4 #1)

After starting Parker Industries, Peter makes this suit for both himself and the Prowler to use. Its primary use was during a battle against Doctor Octopus, who had escaped death by uploading his mind into a set of gloves after losing Peter’s body. Again, it’s a long story.

Black Widow Suit (Spider-Man/Deadpool #8)

Spider-Man uses this suit after being killed and revived by Deadpool. After meeting with Mephisto (the catalyst for one of the worst Spider-Man stories), Peter is revived and ready to wear a new suit for whatever reason.

Shirtless (Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #1)

Though it could be inspired by Kinda Funny‘s Greg Miller and his shirtless Spider-Man outfit, it’s equally possible that this outfit (or lack thereof) is inspired by the time Spider-Man, who recently took his body back from Doctor Octopus, was almost entirely naked in front of New York.

Electro-Proof (Amazing Spider-Man #425)

After teaming-up with the X-Men, Spider-Man uses this insulated suit in order to protect himself against Electro. Spider-Man would go on to improve the suit in future appearances, though it hasn’t been in the comics in quite a long time.

Spider-Punk (Amazing Spider-Man Vol 3 #10)

Owned and used by Hobart Brown of Earth-128, Spider-Punk uses his guitar and spider-powers to battle against President Osborn on behalf of the weak and oppressed. It’s pretty sick.

And that’s that! I’m hoping we get the Bombastic Bag-Man and Raimi-Trilogy suit in the next game! And maybe the pizza delivery outfit, though that may be a longshot.) Which suit is your favorite?
