CNET blows the “games are for guys” stereotype out of the water: here
Some of the observations:
–40% of all gamers are girls
–12% of game development postions belong to girls.
So why aren’t more gamer girls challenging the stereotype? The answer lies in the previous sentence: the stereotype
I’m proud to be a gamer girl with some pretty diverse tastes (I will bore you for hours with tales of Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and more if you let me.), and wouldn’t change any of it for the world. That’s one reason why I’m here at The Video Game Spectrum: not only am I, a female, bringing you the latest and greatest Nintendo news and some of my own twisted “what-if” tales of the Nintendoverse, I’m also striving to give you the “other side” of a seemingly male dominated industry: the newest games through a lady’s eyes.
So play on, gamer girls (and guys); and happy gaming to all that wield a controller.
