Wow, where should I begin on this new update? Well it’s for Warhawk, it’s V1.4, it’ll have new gameplay modes, lots of new perks to it and it’ll be available July 16th at 10:00 GMT (that’s 3am Pacific). Now that’s service!
We’re going to welcome two new gameplay modes, their names, Hero and Collection.
New Gameplay Mode “Heroâ€
One randomly selected player on each team will be a “Hero,” the person who you’ll have to defend. Each Hero will be giving your team points by killing people, and if he kills the other Hero, that’s two points. Game ends after the score limit is reached or the time runs out.
It’s pretty much Two Epic Heroes leading their teams to victory. And you of course get some awesome new features added to your persona!
You get crazy high damage resistance which is like having 500% health. All of your weapons do twice the damage. And the armor-piercing values for your weapons are increased so that some weapons that normally can’t hurt vehicles like Tanks and Turrets, now can!
New Gameplay Mode “Collectionâ€
Each team has a Reactor that players will have to bring back the Energy Cores to said Reactor. It’s like a multi-CTF Dylan explains, with 4 Energy Cores in between the two teams’ Main Bases.
You’ll see 2 Cores here, and it sounds as though you can carry more than one Core at a time and you will score points for each Core brought to your Reactor.
You know how they stopped allowing you from throwing the Flag? Well you can throw the Cores to pass along to your teammates with Triangle, it’s “super effective.” Great new gameplay modes and there’s more! A lot more!
Quick-Join:
While we were glad to provide players with very specific control of which games they join or host via our global server list, we wanted to provide an easier way for new and veteran players to get into their favorite games more quickly and easily….thus the new ‘Quick-Join’ feature.
Also, if you’re new to Warhawk, you’ll have to play in at least one Official Ranked Server so that your settings can be saved. But once the patch is live Wednesday morning and you’ve already played in Official Servers, you’re all set.
Rank & Award Updates:
Dylan and team know how hard it is to get Awards, or for Ranks, so they did some changing. And they know some people will be upset for those that already got these Awards and Ranks. So what’d they fix? Some Medals like Capture the Flag and the gap between Captain and Major.
* “Capture the Flag†Medal previously required 500 total captures, now it requires 250.
* “Capture the Flag†Medal previously required 5 captures IAR (In A Round) and now requires 2.
* “Capture the Flag†Medal still requires 500 flag saves.
* “Distinguished Air Combat†Medal previously required 10K total air-to-air kills and now requires 5K kills.
* “Distinguished Air Combat†Medal previously required 20 minutes IAR of flight time and now it requires 10 minutes.
* “Master Teamwork†Badge previously required 75 team points IAR and now requires 60 points.
* “Master Teamwork†Badge still requires 2K total team points
* “Warhawk Teamwork†Badge still requires 2K total team points
* “Warhawk Teamwork†Badge previously required 150 team points IAR and now requires 100 points.We have also loosened the requirements, specifically point requirements, for some of the officer ranks. The changes to the point requirements for rank advancement are:
* “Major†previously was 150K now its 110K points.
* “Air Marshal†previously required 170K now its 130K points
* “Command Marshal†previously required 190K now its 155K points.
* “Lt. Colonel†previously required 210K now its 180K points.
* “Colonel†previously required 230K now its 210K points.
* “Brigadier General†previously required 250K now its 240K points.
Dylan again reiterates they know a lot of use have logged in many hundreds of hours and have spent time getting Awards and Ranks, but these changes are to help newer players not seem so terrified by the requirements for certain objectives.
Also, a new addition is a checkbox for the requirements, so for those new comers it’ll be easy to know what you have and what you need, even for those of us who are only working on a couple more Medals and Badges, it’s great!
Minimum Rank Server Option:
Well, now when you create servers, you can set minimum ranks to join the game, this’ll also be incorporated into the Official Servers.
New “Winning Team†Ribbon:
You thought being first on the winning team with 10 points was something! Now if you’re on the Winning Team without switching teams and actually help, you get this wicked new Ribbon, why’s it “wicked,” glad you asked, it’s because you get 50 Bonus Points for it! What an incentive to win!
There are 10 trophies based on current stats, ranks and awards and these 10 *ARE* retroactive. This is largely due to the fact that we have this data stored on our global Warhawk Server Cluster. There are 34 other Trophies that are entirely new ‘goals’ and should provide players with plenty of new challenges. And yes, Operation: Omega Dawn, Operation: Broken Mirror, and possibly a new something have new Trophies as well. Each booster pack has an additional 4 unique Trophies.
To earn the Warhawk Platinum Trophy, all you have to do is unlock the base game’s 44 Trophies…you do *NOT* have to buy any DLC to unlock the Platinum Warhawk Trophy. Forcing players to buy our DLC would be super-craptastic and completely unacceptable.

And you don’t get to be Hero all game, no, that wouldn’t be fair, you lose it after a while. As seen in he screenshot above, you have a timer under your name with who’s the Hero on each team and a bar slowly going down to show how much time they have remaining. And you’ll be shown on the map with a Star icon and you’ll see that.
You glow your team color, you emit light the same color as your team, you growl a scary sound that strikes fear in you’re your foes, and of course, energy sparks…must….have…energy sparks!!!
Scoring is simple: If a Hero kills a player, he scores 1 point for his team. If a normal player, or more commonly, a group of players, kills the Hero, 1 point is granted for the team. If a Hero kills the other enemy Hero, then 2 points are scored for the team.
Dylan states that this mode is “wicked intense” and it sure does sound that way! This’ll definitely increase replayability for Warhawk! Of course if you die, the Hero powers switch to someone else on your team.
The scoring is nicely done in this way, if you bring one Core to your Reactor, you’ll get 1 point, if you bring two at the same time, you get 3 pionts, 3 Cores, 6 points and if your team can manage to get all 4 Cores back at the same time, you’ll get 10 points! I know, it doesn’t sound like much for so much communication.
As you can see by the above image, the Cores you have will orbit you and will be see them as you collect more. As in the below image, you can see the Nuclear icon on the map to show where the Cores are in the map. You’ll also notice yellow numbers on the left of each team’s score, this represents how many Cores each team has, to help you decide if you shold be on offense or defense.
All the filter settings you have saved will be used within seconds and put you into a game faster. It’s based on your connection, latency and filter settings. It’ll be easy and a more efficient way to join games!
Also, if you’re new to Warhawk, you’ll have to play in at least one Official Ranked Server so that your settings can be saved. But once the patch is live Wednesday morning and you’ve already played in Official Servers, you’re all set.
Mini-Map Update:
With CTF and Collection, some people have complained about not knowing where to go when they have the Flag and now the Core. Well, one would think it would be obvious where you go, but for those who it’s not as obvious for, you now have stronger blips and a dotted green line connecting you to your Base/Reactor.
Rank & Award Updates:

Also, a new addition is a checkbox for the requirements, so for those new comers it’ll be easy to know what you have and what you need, even for those of us who are only working on a couple more Medals and Badges, it’s great!
TOW Missile:
The TOW is crazy, and so to accomodate base rape, or sort of anyways, the TOW will spawn less frequently when more players are in the game. So you don’t get hit by a TOW every few seconds.
Minimum Rank Server Option:
Well, now when you create servers, you can set minimum ranks to join the game, this’ll also be incorporated into the Official Servers.
Respawn Selection Hint:
Some new people don’t know you can spawn at multiple spawn points! That’s weird, but it’s understandable, so if you have Hints turned on, you’ll notice you’ll have the Hint to spawn at multiple spawn points.
Updates for Home Game Launching:
Now players that are launching/connecting to Warhawk games from Home can designate which team they will be assigned to before the server is started. Warhawk’s Support of Home Game Launching now also supports the new Hero and Collection gameplay modes.
Afterburner Flight to Hover Transition:
Previously, if you were in the air and used the Afterburner on the Warhawk or Nemesis, you couldn’t hit Triangle and go into Hover Mode until your boost was over. It’s a nice realistic touch, but Warhawk isn’t that serious or realistic, so now you can press Triangle mid-boost and transition into Hover Mode whenever you want.
Team Deathmatch Scoring:
Before V1.4, Team Deathmatch counted capturing bases for the team score, this is no longer the case and will only count kills for the team scores, as Team Deathmatch should.
Kick-Idle Player Server Option:
Well now you can choose to kick idle players when setting up any kind of server, and you can no longer just move from one base to another without spawning, even if you do that, you’ll be kicked!
V1.5 and Booster Pack Love:
So yes, this will be coming out July 16th at 3AM Pacific Time, AM, Dylan reiterated that when I questioned him about it.
ha ha…yes, it is AM.
Because we always release this stuff to all players around the globe at the same time, it ends up being released way, way early for us in the states.
Kudos to our support staff for making all this happen! No one ever has those guys make blog posts but their efforts makes things happen…behind the scenes.
Trophy information:
There are 10 trophies based on current stats, ranks and awards and these 10 *ARE* retroactive. This is largely due to the fact that we have this data stored on our global Warhawk Server Cluster. There are 34 other Trophies that are entirely new ‘goals’ and should provide players with plenty of new challenges. I’m glad Dylan and team think that way, as that would be the only way to do this. V1.5 details are yet to be released and will come soon, they’re still being tested out actually.
Oh, and what’s this? A new image being linked to at the end of Dylan’s post? It directly ties into that obscure 3 coloured blocks image posted way back when.
—ohh, you crafty, crafty colored text—
