Kotaku is reporting that at 1PM Japan time, Square-Enix will be outlining its plans for a friendly takeover of the game company Tecmo.
The acquisition will allow Square-Enix to gain a stronger U.S. audience with popular Tecmo franchises such as Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. Furthermore, Tecmo’s titles will help diversify Square-Enix’s own base, which is currently dependent on the RPG genre.
Takeovers are not unknown to the company, Square-Enix in August 2005 acquired Taito and fully owned the company by September.
