Sony: PS3 = Armadillo

It doesn’t take a genius to realise the PS3 is currently the most expensive video games console in the market but according to an interview Eurogamer had with SCEE’s David Reeves, the PS3 will remain being the most expensive console this generation for some time to come. They say this because it’s the only way to protect themselves in the current economic climate, and I quote “It’s like being an armadillo.

But it’s not ruling out the possibility of a price cut. “It is possible that as the cost [manufacturing] comes down, we will be able to do it.” This is probably a smart business move for Sony after they reported a $1.1 billion loss so lowing the price of an already expsenive to make console would just end up increasing the amount of money lost with each console sold. But then again companies make their money from the software sales and not the hardware. It’s a hard decision for Sony at this point, only time will tell what will happen.
