New Resident Evil Revelations Details

Andriasang posted new details from the latest issue of Famitsu in regards to Resident Evil Revelations for Nintendo DS. Revelations takes place on a luxury cruise ship infested by creatures and set in the timeline between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. The game follows the storyline after the newly formed BSAA and several of its members such as Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine appear in Revelations.

The prologue for the story begins with Chris and Jill approaching the once great cruise ship which now looks like a ghost ship. The directors commented that the game brings back a sense of fear into the series with the return of classic exploration and puzzle solving found in the older Resident Evil games. Emphasis on fear and suspense is exactly what the franchise needed. They noted, also, that creatures emerge from unexpected directions.

In regards to the 3DS, the depth of vision produces the necessary output for essential “survival horror” gameplay reasoning that 3D made it capable for the emphasis on “horror.” The storyline is for new players entering the franchise but it isn’t a spin-off per say. Another huge gameplay element is that you can now run and shoot at the same time. While the camera is seemingly fixed, a la Resident Evil 4, it looks like players can move the viewpoint from side to side. The overall setting for game takes place in Europe but the developers wouldn’t divulge more details.

Resident Evil Revelations is 20% complete with a release date TBA.
