Six weeks before Sony’s online service, Playstation Network, will be fully operational the company announced today. Sony plans to have the service resorted for everyone by May 31, 2011.
The new deadline comes after the company missed its initial target date last week stating it was to have some services online up and running. However, Sony is still internally improving its security system after a hacker attack on April 20, 2011 compromised the network’s personal data and account details of millions of users. It was further confirmed at a Congressional hearing that all information from 77 million PSN users accounts were stolen.
Sony is investigating the hack with the help of the United States Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and security firms and promises user protection such as identity theft protection and free content as compensation.
