First it was Blizzard’s DOTA. Then it became Blizzard All-Stars. Now the multiplayer online battle arena from Blizzard is called Heroes of the Storm.
Blizzard has dropped both DOTA and its own name from their upcoming MOBA, likely in an effort to attract a broader audience while distancing themselves from their competitors. Valve’s free to play Dota 2 has received a lot of attention for picking up some team members who created the WarCraft 3 map mod originally called D.O.T.A. (Defense of the Ancients).
More news is sure to come out of next month’s Blizzcon (Nov. 8-9) where we will hopefully learn what makes this different from other MOBA games and when it will become available.
