Harmonix Announces Music Focused Shooter, Chroma For 2014

The studio behind the Rockband and Dance Central franchise is working on a free to play PC shooter, and it’s slated for a 2014 release.

While it’s surprising to read about a first person shooter from Harmonix, it isn’t surprising to hear that there is music plays a large role in Chroma. Players will be able to choose the instrument sounds coming from their weapon. Music also is said to shape the terrain of the battlefield in realtime, with “Change-ups” which can add cover and raise or lower towers all in sync with the music.

Harmonix emphasises that the game will be balanced and not give an advantage to players willing to throw more money at the game.

Chroma will be out on Steam later this year. If you can’t wait to play register to participate in the closed alpha over on their official site: http://www.chromagame.com/
